Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words):
From the first 7 tasks of the course I have learnt a fair amount about music theory, business sides o music and I have improved as a musician all around. The main thing on the theory side are scales for music and how to implement them into a solo and also about chord progressions within keys and how to expand and fit in more chords from separate keys that shouldn’t work yet do, that is mainly helped from Nigel my theory teacher and the core songs we have done which explore key and time signature changes in them, we open the songs up and view them in a different way to analyse them. The musician side has gotten better for me by performing the core songs often to open up the different styles of music that I perform.
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words):
My project proposal is to create an EP in a genre of my choice, currently I have written two songs one of which was with Theo Walden who wrote the lyrics and the other was with Charlie Barrett. The genre is an indie in the feel of Rex Orange County and Mac DeMarco so it’s a bit of dreamy music. The EP will roughly consist of five songs all of which will sound roughly similar due to containing most of the same elements of flange pedals and chorus too along with simple bass lines that wont be too fancy. I will be making most of the songs and playing the instruments as I can play the bass too along with drums.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words):
All in all I believe that the FMP that I do will be a good quality EP, I now have a third composition that my band, JAM, came up with. I am happy with the quality of the songs that I have recorded and am just waiting for them to be mixed. I will bounce rough versions of the tracks if I am able to get them.
